Originally used as a non-flea bearing ratter on ships, they were spread about the world with the merchant trade. ‘Gypsy’ Rose Lee was an avid breeder of these dogs.
This is an alert, happy breed, and will attempt to gain affection through any means. They are the quintessential lap dogs. This breed is ill equipped to deal with the cold, but does well with other animals inside the home. They may be a little too sensitive for the rigors of a toddler, but are good family dogs otherwise.
