While part of the Bichon family, this dog doesn’t look like the Bichon Frise at all. With a show cut that is naked from the last rib back to the ankles and tail, it has also been called the Little Lion Dog. While existing in Germany as far back as the 1500s, the dog was almost extinct by 1960. It was only due to two breeders that they are any left at all. Still relatively unknown, this dog was only recognized by the AKC in 1999.
This is a dog that is well suited for calm families. It is eager to please and play, but will be calm when the time requires. They are easily trained and like to figure things out. They are avid barkers and diggers, though.
