Thought to have originated on the Isle of Malta, as early as 1500 BC, this breed is not only remembered in art, but even has its own tombs left over. These dogs faced extinction in the mid 1800s but have since bounced back to become one of the most popular toy breeds.
Inside, this dog will be found laying on or near someone. Outside, it should be found running and playing with the larger dogs, if socialized properly. They can be aggressive with perceived threats and are often quite vocal.
