Tolling is a term that means decoy. These dogs would play on the shore very actively and ducks would come to watch the activity. The hunters would shoot the ducks and the dogs would retrieve them.
This breed is a stamina dog that wants to play more than anything, especially fetch. They are social but can get stubborn when bored. While they can be reserved in new situations, they are friendly and eager to please and play when comfortable.
