Originally from the Scottish Highlands, these tunneling terriers with a tough, wiry coat were designed to handle the harsh brush. While there is much disagreement on the history of the breed, when WWII hit, the breed’s popularity soared in the US, partially due to appearances in wartime films.

This is a persistent little dog. While not displaying the ferocity of the Parson Russell, they are just as tough.
