Another dog referred to as the Lion Dog, these are Chinese in origin. Once considered a holy dog in Tibet, this breed is very similar to the Pekingese, but has bumps on the tops of its head. When British troops looted the Chinese Royal Family, most of the Shih Tzu were lost, but enough sustained to continue.
These dogs can be a little stand-offish to strangers. You will have to earn their affections, but once earned they are loving animals. They like to play and be played with. They can be a bit stubborn but are still wonderful with children, especially ones that drop food from the dinner table.
