These dogs were used almost exclusively for sledding throughout their existence. Not quite as rambunctious as some of the other sledding dogs, they have distinguished themselves by bringing much needed medicines, as well as more basic supplies, to remote northern areas.
These dogs will always roam and cannot be allowed to have free reign. They can be antisocial with unknown dogs, but get along well with dogs that they know. They can be clowns, and often have a mischievous side. They require strong social interaction to be happy. They will dig, howl, and chew. They should not be off leash outside of fenced areas, as they may end up too far from home to find their way back.
