Yorkshire Terriers, brought to Australia, were crossed with Australian Terriers in order to make the local breed’s coats more attractive. The result was the Silky and there was a great deal of disagreement across the country as to what the standards would be. They eventually settled on what we know today. Arriving in America in the 1950s, they still do not have a very strong following.

This is a smarter, more energetic, more stubborn Yorkie, if you can believe that. Both mental and physical stimulation will be required for this dog.  They can do very well in a family environment, but will bark a great deal.
