These dogs were used by farmers to go after vermin. They wanted a smaller Fox Terrier, as well as one that was a bit more patient. Several toy breeds were crossed with the Fox Terrier to create this breed.
These dogs are not quite as feisty as the Fox Terriers, but only by a hair. They will explore and investigate on a continual basis. They will do well with older children, particularly those who are careful not to anger this breed. Homes with small children would not be ideal for these guys. They are also very happy to cuddle for hours on end. They are not generally considered friendly to strangers.
