Originally used to dislodge fox that had gone to ground, these dogs rose to show dog superstardom and eclipsed the popularity of the smooth coated variety.
These dogs are always ready to go. They love to explore whenever possible. They tend to have more of an attitude than the smooth coated variety and can be aggressive with other dogs. They are avid diggers and barkers, and are fairly independent. They tend to be aloof with strangers.
