Dutch in origin, this is a walking hunter with a deliberate gait and a strong nose. It was also able to impress in French courts, where it was well behaved. This allowed for its popularity to spread, even to America, during the late Ninteenth Century.
This breed is a strong member of the family, very devoted and willing to please. It can be a bit comical, as well, especially when bored, and is smart enough to attempt to manipulate the family as well.
