These spiders are not considered dangerous in the males, which lack the distinctive hour glass marking. The females carry a neurotoxin called a-latroxin. If a bite occurs, especially in young, old, or small dogs, a Vet should be consulted immediately. Symptoms can include:
- Drooling
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Cramping
- Severe Muscle Pain
- Tremors
- Blood Pressure Changes
- Death
