Ethyl alcohol is the part of alcoholic drinks that gets humans drunk and is dangerous to dogs because of the smaller body weight, making it easier for them to become drunk.  There are other places that the ethanol can come from besides alcohol, such as unbaked bread or hand sanitizer.  Since alcoholic drinks are the most common, a concentration on beverages will be present here.  Symptoms, ranging from mild to severe, can begin from 20 mins (on an empty stomach) to two hours.  The amount ingested, as well as the type will play a critical part in how heavily the symptoms present.  This is less dangerous than Isopropyl Alcohol.  Symptoms can include:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Weakness
  • Lack of Coordination
  • Lethargy
  • Collapse
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Elevated Heart Rate
  • Low Body Temperature
