An evergreen shrub that has a milky sap that has dermatological toxicity to it that can turn into gastrointestinal effects if the plant is ingested.  The active agents are diterpene esters.  All parts of the plant are toxic although symptoms are usually mild.  Symptoms can include:

  • Skin Redness
  • Rash
  • Burning Sensation of the Mouth and Tongue
  • Drooling
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Lethargy
  • Depression
