This plant causes a dermatological toxic reaction to the insoluable calcium oxalate that it contains.  It is a mild to moderate toxin and usually is not ingested as it causes discomfort when chewed.  Symptoms can include:

  • Oral Pain
  • Pawing at the Mouth
  • Swelling of Soft Tissue at the Mouth
  • Drooling
  • Foaming
  • Vomiting
  • Swelling of the Airways
