An evergreen shrub with edible berries, the leaves and shoots are toxic, containing atropine, hyoscyamine, and scopolamine.  It has a mild to moderate effect unless eaten in large quantity.  The neurological system will be affected but the circlatory and respiratory systems are at risk, due to this.  Symptoms can include:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Slowed Heart Rate
  • Slowed Breathing
  • Loss of Sensation
