This plant causes a dermatological toxic reaction to the calcium oxalate that it contains.  It is a mild to moderate toxin and usually is not ingested as it causes discomfort when chewed.  Symptoms include:

  • Oral Pain
  • Drooling
  • Foaming
  • Pawing at the Mouth
  • Swelling of the Lips and Tongue
  • Difficulty Breathing or Swallowing
