This is a virus with no known cure but does have a vaccination.  The virus is spread through bodily fluids of all types in both direct contact, such as breathing or coughing between dogs, as well as indirect contact, such as shared water bowls.  This is highly contagious and affects respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, and central nervous systems.  In very young or old dogs, or dogs with weakened systems, this can be fatal.  Incubation period may only last a week but can last for up to five weeks.  Symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Red, Bloodshot Eyes
  • Nasal Discharge
  • Thickening of the Paw Pads
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Sneezing
  • Coughing
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Depression
  • Seizure
  • Paralysis
  • Hysteria
