This is a viral infection that jumped from horses to dogs. It is commonly mistaken for Kennel Cough but the big difference is that parainfluenza causes additional symptoms to the respiratory system . Many times, the infection can go away on its own, but it will be highly contagious and can spread easily in dog populations.  If secondary symptoms begin to show, the infection can be dangerous.  Symptoms can include:

  • Dry Hacking Cough
  • Fever
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Wheezing
  • Sneezing
  • Nasal Discharge
  • Eye Inflammation
  • Pneumonia
