This is a condition where there is Arthritis at the intersection where the vertebrae of the spine connect to the pelvis.  The vertebral canal narrow, compressing the nerves of the lumbar and sacrum regions.  While Arthritis is commonly the cause, herniated disc, trauma, tumor, or congenital malformation can also be causes.  Since many of the symptoms can be similar to Hip Dysplasia, a veterinarian would have to be consulted to get a proper diagnosis.  Symptoms can include:

  • Stiffness in Back Legs
  • Pain in Back Legs
  • Muscle Loss in Back Legs
  • Difficulty Getting Up
  • Lameness
  • Difficulty With Urination and Defecation
  • Stiffness in Tail
  • Abnormal Tail Position
  • Paralysis in Tail
  • Pain in Movement of Tail
  • Shuffling Gait
  • Dragging Toes
  • Inflammation of Lower Spine
