This is a genetic condition where a large part of the brain does not develop properly.  While there is some discussion that there is not an entirely genetic cause, that prenatal infection may be responsible, that has not been verified yet.  While this is a very rare condition, it is not a fatal one.  The dog may even improve slightly as the dog adapts to the condition and lead a better quality of life.  It should be noted that this can be confused with several other disorders but cannot be definitively diagnosed without an autopsy.  Symptoms can include:

  • Head Bobbing
  • Limb Tremors
  • Tremors Can be Aggravated by Movement
  • Tremors Can Disappear During Sleep
  • Unsteadiness
  • Lack of Balance
  • Clumsiness
  • Difficulty Judging Distance
  • Falling
