This is the condition of not being able to defecate normally.  This includes difficult, infrequent, or non-existent defecation.  There are a multitude of reasons that this can occur; eating non-digestible items, medication side effects, matted hair in the digestive tract, enlarged prostate, problems with the anal glands, fiber imbalance, trauma or orthopedic problems with the pelvis, or dehydration.  Symptoms can include:

  • Lack of Defecation for More Than a Day
  • Straining During Defecation
  • Crying or Yelping During Defecation
  • Dry, Hardened Stools
  • Mucus Membranes While Defecating
