This is the most common form of mange that we find and is caused by microscopic mites called demodex.  While the presence of these mites are common, for a dog with a compromised immune system or certain hereditary factors, they can cause this problem to present.  Symptoms can be either localized or generalized but will often not cause itchiness.  The entire life cycle of the mites are carried out on the dogs so that furniture is not at risk if your dog has this condition.  Both grooming and topical medicines will be required to fix this condition.  Symptoms can include:

  • Thinning Hair
  • Hair Loss
  • Scaly Skin
  • Reddish Brown Skin
  • Itching of Affected Areas
  • Lethargy
  • Poor Appetite
